As Phatcat, and the founder of Future Roots, Dean is well known for his lifelong contributions to Alberta’s music community hosting hundreds of independent events over the last decade and managing the Future Roots label. Constantly exploring the ebb and flow between the styles of Jungle, Garage, Dub, Grime, and Techno while calling back to the roots of Rave are the hallmark of his evolving stew of productions honed while performing at Shambhala, Basscoast, Bamboo and other countless festivals, raves, and clubs across Canada and the world since '98

Having just celebrated Future Roots' 12th anniversary, he is working on multiple projects in 2018, including further development of his long format field recording and sampling project, a new dance and sound art piece, more material for label Inner City Dance, and growing the Future Roots label!
